Reutter School fifth-grade students are currently reading Lois Lowry’s historical fiction novel, Number the Stars, in their ELA classes. This unit focuses on a variety of essential literacy skills, including character development, identifying themes, and understanding historical context. To reinforce comprehension and foster deeper critical analysis, students are engaging in structured written reflections.
Reutter School sixth-grade students are currently learning how to calculate the surface area of various three-dimensional objects in their math classes. To build a conceptual understanding, students are utilizing physical manipulatives to examine the individual faces of prisms and pyramids.
Silly String the Principal
School Principal Mr. Peters was recently sprayed with silly string by the students in Miss Jacobs and Mrs. Pizzo's homerooms. Both homerooms won their respective grade-level competitions during the PTO's Dime Drive Fundraiser.

Reutter School Celebrates Literacy During Read Across America Week
Reutter School recently marked the national Read Across America celebration with a week-long series of events dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of reading this week. The celebration featured a special spirit week organized by the Student Council, with each day centered on a unique theme that promoted different aspects of literacy and school culture.
A highlight of the week occurred when students received a surprise visit from the Cat in the Hat. The iconic character moved through the building, engaging with students and bringing an extra layer of excitement to the reading-centered activities.
On Friday, the celebration extended into the community as a group of sixth-grade students visited Mary F. Janvier School. Serving as student ambassadors, they spent the morning reading to the younger students in the district. This initiative provided our sixth graders with a leadership opportunity while allowing them to share their enthusiasm for storytelling with the primary grade levels.

Recently, in Mrs. Busler's sixth-grade math class, we had a construction challenge on constructing shapes to find their area, making formulas for each parallelogram, and finding the dimensions. We had fun working with our friends, figuring out the formulas, area, and dimensions.
