Welcome

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the Reutter School website! I am thrilled to have you as part of our school community, where we prioritize academic excellence, character development, and the well-being of every student. Whether you are a returning family or new to our school, we are committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for all students.

As we start another exciting school year, I would like to remind everyone of a few important guidelines to ensure smooth operations and the safety of our students.

School Procedures:

  • Drop Box:

A "drop box" will continue to be placed at the school’s entrance for parents wishing to drop off an item for their child or for the school. Simply leave the item, clearly labeled with your child's name, with Main Office personnel for easy retrieval.

  • Visitor Guidelines:

All visitors must report to the Main Office to receive information and obtain a visitor's pass before entering the building. In most cases, we encourage parents/guardians to make appointments in advance, except in cases of emergency. As a security measure, all parents/guardians will be asked to present photo identification when picking up their child. If someone other than a parent or guardian is picking up your child, please provide written documentation ahead of time.

  • Technology Integration:

At Reutter School, technology is integrated into each school day. All of our students are equipped with 1:1 personal Chromebooks, enhancing their learning experiences. In addition, each instructional classroom is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including Promethean Boards and digital imaging document projectors, creating dynamic and interactive lessons that engage our students in authentic learning.

  • Curriculum and Instruction:

Our curriculum is carefully aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, ensuring that students are well-prepared for secondary education and future career opportunities. Our dedicated teachers differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, using a variety of methods and materials that make lessons creative, student-centered, and technology-enhanced. We are proud to utilize the Connected Action Roadmap (CAR), positioning our school as a leader in professional learning communities and empowering teacher leadership.

  • Character Development:

Reutter School is deeply committed to character development, and I am proud to share that our school has been recognized by Character.org as both a National and New Jersey School of Character. Additionally, we are honored to be a designated No Place for Hate school by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Our award-winning character education program fosters a positive and respectful school environment, and we are dedicated to building students who are not only academically successful but also ethical and empathetic individuals.

  • Physical Fitness:

We offer a variety of physical fitness opportunities for students beyond regular physical education classes. Students can join after-school fitness programs such as the Fitness and Field Hockey Clubs, and we also hold events like the Character Development Color Run to further promote health and wellness. Reutter School ensures that all students have ample opportunities for physical activity through an extended daily recess that exceeds NJDOE requirements.

  • Clubs and Activities:

Our school offers a wide array of clubs and extracurricular activities to nurture students' interests and talents:

  • Service-Oriented Opportunities:

Students in the sixth grade can engage in leadership and service roles, such as Student Council, Safety Patrol, and Counselor's Helper.

We also provide academic support through after-school Homework Assistance, as well as specialized tutoring in Math and ELA. Our Mentoring Program offers students additional encouragement and guidance.

  • Extracurricular Activities:

In addition to the wide range of clubs and after-school programs available to fifth and sixth graders, students can participate in extracurricular activities such as:

  • Band

  • Chorus

  • Physical Fitness Club

  • Book Club

  • STEM Club

  • Drama Club

  • Art Club

These programs allow students to explore their interests and develop new skills in a fun and supportive environment.
