Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Assessment season is upon us. Assessments help us to evaluate how we as a district are doing in preparing your children for college and career success.

The NJ Student Learning Assessment will be administered from May 7-8 (English Language Arts) and May 14-16 (Math) for all students.  The fifth grade will take an additional section of the state assessment focusing on science from May 28-31. The school schedule has been slightly redesigned during these two weeks of administering the state assessment in order to ensure continuity of instruction with all four of our major subject classes.

The state assessment is designed to measure student achievement in English Language Arts and Mathematics based on the learning standards contained in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for grades 3-12. Students will take both the Math and ELA sections online using their Chromebooks provided by the school.

Our students are continually engaged in learning activities that prepare them for the state assessment and have been exposed to the sample items and format of the assessment throughout the school year. Additional information about the NJ State Assessments can be found by visiting

Please assist in preparing your child each day for the assessment by helping them to get plenty of rest the night before and a good breakfast.  Also, please ensure that your child arrives on time each morning.  If your child is late, they will not be able to start the test and that portion will be made up the following week.  In the event that  your child is ill, they will be able to take the missed portion of the assessment the following week.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support!
