Hour of CodeOn Thursday, December 7th we celebrated Computer Science Education week by participating in "Hour of Code". While solving mazes of gradually increasing complexity, students develop strong computational thinking skills and programming logic. They learn that failing is OK and how to step through their program and find the bug if the program does not work. This year 5th grade students were allowed to choose between a new 2017 edition called "Minecraft: A Hero's Journey" as well as Disney's Moana. In 6th grade, we tried a new program called "Learn How to Code with Karel the Robot".
