This is the image for the news article titled Hour of Code at ReutterAs part of a celebration of Computer Science Education Week, students in Mrs. Burkhardt's Computer Literacy courses took part in an "Hour of Code" interactive, online-learning activity on Tuesday, December 6th. The Hour of Code is a global initiative where participants stage a one-hour (or in our case, a 42-minute) introduction to computer programming designed to demystify computer coding and show participants that anyone can learn the basics. The State of New Jersey Department of Education encourages schools to take part in the Hour of Code so they can introduce their students to this increasingly important 21st Century Skill and recent addition to the New Jersey Student Learning Standard 8. Through the use of two special-edition 2016 Hour of Code tutorials - "Minecraft: Hour of Code Designer" and "Disney's Moana", students were thoroughly-engaged in a fun, creative, critical-thinking learning activity while cooperating with their peers to solve the coding puzzles. Mrs. Burkhardt hopes that the Hour of Code will inspire and/or strengthen an interest in the Computer Science field. You can learn more about the Hour of Code at www.code.org
