Principal's Message

January 13, 2021

Dear Reutter School Families,

As we approach the mid-point of our academic year, all students will be
administered the iReady Mid-Year Diagnostic Assessment in Math and ELA.
The iReady Mid-Year Diagnostic Assessments are scheduled to be administered
during the month of January.

i-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your
student’s teacher(s) determine your child’s needs, personalize their learning,
and monitor progress throughout the school year.  Back in September, students
were administered the Baseline iReady Diagnostic Assessment.

i-Ready allows your teacher(s) to meet your child exactly where they are and
provides data to increase your child’s learning gains. i-Ready consists of two
parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction.

The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to
suit your child’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on
their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers
will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will
yield slightly easier questions.

i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their
individual skill level and needs, so your child can learn at a pace that is just
right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your child
engaged as they learn.

All students are scheduled to have an End of Year Diagnostic iReady Assessment
administered in May/June to determine their overall academic achievement
levels for the current academic year.

UNIVERSAL TIPS FOR STAYING HEALTHY
We understand the level of concern regarding COVID-19 and encourage parents and students to continue following the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention promoted  safeguards, including:
• Stay home when you are sick;
• Follow the isolation/quarantine rules explained to you;
• Wash hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds;
• Cover coughs and sneezes and properly dispose of tissues;
• Limit close contact with people who are sick and not sharing food, drinks and utensils;
• Practice social distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart);
• Wear a face covering while not at home; and continue to monitor your health for symptoms.

HEADPHONES REQUIRED AND AVAILABLE FOR USE
The teaching staff members have reported that students using headphones while on Google Meets are more focused and less distracted.
In efforts to support our students in learning, the district has purchased
headphones that are compatible for use with the Chromebooks.
A friendly reminder that we are now requiring students to use headphones while on Google Meet sessions. If your child needs a pair of
headphones, please contact the school’s main office and a set will be provided.

Have a wonderful remainder of your week!
